Member-at-Large – John Gould

Nothing to report.

Chairperson Reports:

Autocross – Dave Dunwoodie

I’ve had a couple of meetings with the manager at Salinas Airport and I’m enthusiastic about getting our dates for 2023 any time now. Autocross schedule V2 is almost ready. If all goes well we should have 4 dates at Crows Landing, 1 at Laguna Seca, and 5 at Salinas Airport, a busy year.

I have many boxes of business cards to hand out. I plan to bring them to the Cars & Coffee next Sunday if the weather is decent.

Charity – Kathy Musser, Kris Vanacore, Emilie Highley

Happy to report. . . No Report this month!

Discussion:   Morgan Autism Center has an annual “Starry, Starry Nights” fundraiser dinner that includes auctions.  Typically takes place in the month of May.   LPR wants to provide an opportunity for members to donate wine for a “wine pull”.  Wine can be brought to the upcoming Brews & Blues GTG or text Kris Vanacore at 408-406-1410 for pick-up.   This information has been put on Facebook.   Information to also be added in the mid-month Blasts.

Hospitality – Emilie Highley

Happy to report… No Report this month!

Discussion:  A card will be sent from the club to Yvonne Khamachta.

Prieta Post Editor – Don Chaisson

The Jan/Feb issue of the Prieta POST was published (on line, via enews@lprpca.org) mid Dec.   The readers now total 168, or over 45% of the regional membership.   The chart below shows the initial uptake and the Dana Ambrisko “bump” when she reminded folks that the POST was available in her first “enews” of 2023 (thanks for an extra 26 readers)

Click here to see the POST Time on Site statistics graph in the Appendix.

The Time on Site statistics show two types of “readers”: scanner and readers.   The Scanners spend less than 10 minutes on site, while the readers spend from 15 to over 20 minutes on site.   There are more “scanners” than “readers”.   This is about the same as with the Nov/Dec issue.    So, about half the readers actually “read” the articles.

The “theme” for the next Prieta POST will be “History of the Region”.   I will be reaching out to long time members for interviews and their perspective of the journey from the origins of the region to where the region is going now.   I will use one of the photo’s submitted by members for “cover shot”…. No reason to wait.   We still only have a hand full, or less, submitted photos.

I continue to work on evolving the balance between content, photographic excellence, member interest and watching reader statistics to help understand our region.

On a more national note: PCA has appointed a Newsletter/Magazine Chair, Cherish Crust from the Keystone Region in PA.

Thanks to all for help and recommendations.    All welcomed!

Discussion:  Emilie Highley will help with connecting Ken Iles with Don to discuss the history.

The older Prieta POSTS are not digitized.  If interested, the cost estimate might be $9 – $10K to scan.

Public Relations – Open

We are looking for someone to take this position – basics are sending photos, possibly an article into Panorama.  John is happy to continue taking pictures, but anyone should feel free to take photos.

Training class can be provided for Public Relations position.   An LPR article is shown in Panorama more often than other regions.   John has a good relationship with his contact at Panorama and he also does not overwhelm them.   John sends them an article and pictures about every three months.

Safety – John Reed

Safety – The year ended safely!

Tour – John Reed and Hugh Calvin

Tour – The December 11th Toys for Tots Tour was canceled due to stormy weather. The post-tour scheduled lunch did happen with 14 people attending.  The toys collected were delivered to Joey’s Toy Drive at the Silicon Valley Moving and Storage the following week.

– John Reed, 2022 Tour Chair

Hugh Calvin, Jim Turk and John Reed have kicked off discussing some improvements to the information regarding Tours on the LPR web page.

– Hugh Calvin, 2023 Tour Chair

Social Media – Dana Ambrisko

  • January Blast Update was sent on Dec. 31st
  • January Mid-month Blast will be sent on or near January 15th
  • For the Mid-month Blast I will be including some PCA Event dates so members can start planning – Parade registration opens Feb 1st.
  • I have received some positive feedback on the Blasts. Most of them from Board Members. Thank You!

Tech – Peter Ridgway

Nothing to report.

Bill and Peter will start invoicing sponsors next week.

Webmaster – Jim Turk

  • Updated web pages for 2023
  • Performed website software maintenance

Old Business:  None

New Business:

Membership Directory:  Discussed that privacy concerns are more than likely found in our Policies and Procedures as well as PCA National policies.   We should not give our membership contact information to our vendors and sponsors, etc.  Any vendor and sponsor information can be sent to our members via a link through Social Media (Monthly and Mid-Month Blasts).  A committee needs to be created to begin the Membership Directory project.   Further discussion will be off-line.

GTG Brews & Blues:  Bill Weir stated Mr. Mojito requires a head count about a week in advance.   Patio area can hold up to 80 people.   This event is open to non-members.   Good opportunity to increase membership.  Flyer to be updated to require RSVP.   Money to be collected at the door.  Mid-Month Blast and all social media to also include this information.    Further discussion will be off-line between Bill Weir and Honore D’Angelo.

Activities Chairpersons:   All Chairpersons listed in this Board Meeting Minutes need to be approved for 2023.     It has been suggested that all board members and chairpersons review guidelines and policies and update as needed with appropriate approval.   These documents can be found on the LPR website.

Proposal:  Dana proposes we approve Activities Chairpersons for 2023.  Second:  John Gould

Ayes: 5   Noes:  None   Motion passes

Adjourn Meeting:  Meeting adjourned by President Dana at 8:23 PM
