Chairperson Reports:

Autocross – Dave Dunwoodie

Our first event of the season at Crows Landing last weekend went well with 61 drivers enjoying a fun, brisk, challenging course with perfect 70’s weather.

Our trailer should be going in for graphics this week, then it will be ready for our first event at Salinas April 6th.   I’d like to thank everyone for their help in preparing the new trailer; Bill Charron, Homer Pitner, Ed Tefankjian, Peter Ridgway, Tony Vanacore, Brad Boardman, Don Chaisson and Mike Koozmin.  Also, Iain McNeill for supplying the correct replacement cable for our timing equipment after someone took a creative line across the finish last year.

I would like board approval for our next two events, April 6th and May 5th.  Each event runs $2500 for the site, around $1000 for lunch (sandwiches and waters), and $200 for trailer towing. Let’s say $7500 total.

Proposal:  Dana D. makes motion to authorize $7,500 in expenses for the next two Autocross events at Salinas airport: $2,500 for each site rental; and, for each event, $1,000 for lunches and $200 for trailer towing. Second: Homer   Ayes:  6  Noes:  None  Motion passes

Charity  – Kathy Musser, Kris Vanacore, Emilie Highley

Nothing to report.

Hospitality – Emilie Highley

Submitted by Kris Vanacore

Bill Highley is resting comfortably at home with the care of Emilie, Hospice and their Caregiver, Lia. Please no phone calls just texts, and Emilie will try to find the time to reply.  Emilie will send me updates and I will pass them on. They don’t need any meals at this time just thoughts and prayers.   A card will be sent from LPR.     Please feel free to mail a card as well.

Prieta Post Editor – Don Chaisson

I’ve got all the content for the Mar/Apr Post, but I won’t be able to put the last together until Monday night, so I hope to be able to say that the Post is out for publication at the meeting.

Update:   The March/April issue of the Prieta Post was sent out on March 11.   In just one day, there has been 176 views, which is a fair number of members.

For the May/June issue, he plans on having photo(s) of the U-Turn Tour and write-up, an interview with John D’Angelo who will be the Chair for the PCA Nominating Committee, a report about Sonoma raceway, add a history column, and an article about the Easter Parade.

Public Relations – Open

Absent – Report submitted by John Reed

Nothing new to report. If anyone has any interesting photos of current LPR events let me know, I’m still out of (photo) action for a while.

(We are looking for someone to take this position – basics are sending photos, possibly an article into Panorama.  John is happy to continue taking pictures, but anyone should feel free to take photos.)

Safety – John Reed

Absent – Report submitted

The Observer’s Report for the March 10 autocross was sent to PCA in a timely manner. Thank you to Ed Tefankjian. The release forms were sent to the LPR Activities Director.   Received the LPR AX Trailer Safety Check List. All is ready for the new AX season. Thank you to Homer Pitner and Dave Dunwoodie.

Tour – Hugh Calvin

BoD authorized Tour fee waivers for tours in 2024.  (Approved January 2024)

Next scheduled Tour is the Ken Isles Memorial You Turn Tour on 13- April.

Further out:  Forest Bathing Tour (16-Jun), Jacob’s Heart Tour (14-Sep), Ole Amigos Tour (11/2/24), Toys for Tots Tour(15-Dec).  LPR is planning to host the Oktoberfest Joint Tour with MBR (12-Oct, tentative), but this has to be coordinated with MBR.

If anyone’s thinking about organizing a Tour, we have room on the calendar for Tours in July and August!

Discussion:  In regards to the Oktoberfest Joint Tour, Dana D. mentioned that John and Honore drove and may have found a possible lunch spot –  The Brookdale Lodge, which also has a beer garden.  We have access to the caterer from last year’s event.    Last year the fee was $35-$40/per person.  The pies were donated from club members.
