Thank you for your reports in advance of the meeting!

Treasurer – Andy Ward

Recap: May Financials

  • Expenses: $ 5,731
  • Income: $ 5,196
  • Net Income: $ -536

Income was: Autocross, Prieta Post Advertising, Interest

Expenses were: Autocross, GTGs (Thirsty Thursday, Roaring Camp)

Recap YTD Financials, Jan 1 to May 31, 2023:

  • Expenses: $ 13,481
  • Income: $ 27,024
  • Net Income: $ 13,543

A few items to note:

  • LPR’s annual federal and California tax statements were filed. Many thanks for long-time LPR treasurer Johnny Musser for walking me through the process of filling out and filing the documents
  • LPR was erroneously billed $312 in April by Zone 7 for AX Trophy expenses. The Zone sent us a refund for the full amount. The refund deposit will be reflected in next months reports, as it was not received until earlier this month. The bill was intended for GGR, but was inadvertently attributed to our chapter
  • Last month we spent a bit over $500 more than we took in. This is good! Which leads me to my next comment, below…
  • 2023 income continues to exceed expenses by roughly $13.5k, so we should be planning to spend at least this amount to avoid running a surplus for this year.

Discussion:  Andy plans on preparing a budget for the rest of the year.  Honore will send budget information on the picnic and year-end awards party to Andy.

We’ve had two great events so far at Salinas Airport with the next one planned for July 8th.

After our July event I will have 6 weeks to work on removing the old graphics and new wrap for the trailer before our next event.

Trailer Driver – $200

Hospitality – Emilie Highley

What a fun time it was to organize a ‘surprise’ for Laurie Barke, a LONG-time member of LPR, who currently resides in the Loma Clara Senior Living Facility in Morgan Hill.  A gathering of more than 15 LPR members, spouses and friends with Porsches, gathered on May 21st to surprise Laurie.  While Laurie may have been out of touch with LPR, she remained a fanatic about Porsches and had many stories to tell when she and her late husband, Bernie joined LPR back in the early 1970’s. Someone Laurie recognized right off the bat was John Reed!     Another ‘tidbit’ about Laurie was that she was Mayor of Morgan Hill in the mid-1980’s!  It was an entertaining Sunday meeting – a ‘feel good’ kind of day.

Prieta Post Editor – Don Chaisson

The next issue will be the July Aug Issue and will highlight Parade.   Because of this, I will be really pushed to get the issue ready to publish by June 29th or so.   That means it will likely be “late” and be available to publish early July — and may need to send it out on a special email blast rather than wait for mid-July.

I’m planning on 4 “featured” articles:
1) Car Colors, Porsche and Rennbow…
2) A review of Parade 2023… and try to highlight LPR members who attended.
3) I am thinking of some comments about conversations with other region’s newsletter editors; maybe lessons learned, etc.
4). Big spread on hyping WERKS Monterey.  And looking forward to Rennsport 7… well beyond a simple box in the Calendar section.

So far, no new member got back to me on the opportunity to do an interview and Welcome.  I’m wondering if the bcc blast really went out properly.

Discussion:

Hayes and Del ads need better photos.   The outside of Hayes is not very presentable.   Suggest a photo of a car in the bay.   Honore stated that a picture done by Michael Alan Ross of John’s car against the blue wall was really nice.  Don will try these ideas.

Public Relations – Open

The LPR information boards will be updated this week with the Bathing in the Redwoods Tour and the LPR Family Picnic along with various event photos.

Discussion:

  1. Current Panaroma shows LPR photo on pg. 110.
  2. John will go by the various boards to update.

(We are looking for someone to take this position – basics are sending photos, possibly an article into Panorama.  John is happy to continue taking pictures, but anyone should feel free to take photos. )

Safety – John Reed

The PCA Observer’s reports for the May and June LPR Autocross and the Tour de King City were sent to PCA National in a timely manner. The release forms were sent or given to the LPR Activities Director. There were no incidents to report.

Tour – Hugh Calvin

The Tour de King City was completed on 27 May.
Next up is the Forest Bathing Tour on 23 July.
Further out:  Pinnacles Loop (9/10), Jacob’s Heart (10/14), Ole Amigos (10/21), Butterfly (11/18), Toys for Tots (12/10)

Discussion:

  • Hugh requests approval to waive the $5.00 tour fee for the remaining tours of 2023 to help encourage participation. (Charity tours do not have tour fees.)

Proposal:   Kathy proposes we approve waiving the tour fees.   Second:  John Gould   Ayes: 5   Noes;  0  Motion passes

  • Don suggests an idea for a tour to Los Angeles for the Auto Show on November 17 – 26 and to include Tech Tactics West on November 25 – 26.

Social Media – Dana Ambrisko

  • June Blast Update was sent June 1st
  • June Blast Update – CORRECTION was sent due to incorrect fee amounts listed for Werks Reunion Monterey
  • June Mid-month Blast will be sent on or around 15th

Tech – Peter Ridgway

Closed on all sponsors for 2023.  Not pursuing others unless they come to us.
Most are paid up but we have a few stragglers.  Will follow up on payments in June.

Working on Tech Sessions.  Wardell session will be in August (exact date tbd)

Attended both Stevens Creek and Fremont Porsche’s 75th Anniversary parties.   I felt it was my duty as sponsorship mgr.   The Stevens Creek party was insane.  Maybe 200 people with w DJ, a pizza oven in the parking lot and tons of hors d’overes inside along with mimosas and smoothies.  More than a few LPR members plus I signed up 1 and maybe 3 new members.

The Fremont party was way more subdued.  Maybe 20 people but they said they expected a large crowd later.   Good food with a live band and 2 stilt walkers.  Our Fremont dealer contact has moved to the new Porsche in San Francisco so I’ll be meeting with the GM in the next week to make sure LPR and Fremont Porsche continue our long relationship.

Webmaster – Jim Turk

  • WordPress maintenance for plugins
  • Upgraded WordPress to the latest release, 6.2.2
  • Added flyers for various events, tours, Thirsty Thursday, Cars and Coffee
  • Recovered the site from an error affecting the Photos page
  • Added a couple of Unclassified Ads
  • Updated the AX page for AX#5

I would like Board approval for the amount of $99 for a one- year renewal of our license for Elementor (used in building web pages). [Ed. – technically I think I don’t need board approval for this since it is less than $100, but transparency is a good thing, so the Board will know what I’m spending our money on].

Comment:

No Board approval needed since this renewal is under $100.

Jim mentioned that while working on the website some flyers might be missing from the home page.   Let him know if something is missing.

Old Business:  Pinnacle Tour –  Discussion.   Iain is thankful that the tour fee has been waived.   He is working on the flyer; needs lunch details.   Checks for lunch can be made to LPR.   Dave, John, Kathy have offered various assistance on tasks.

New Business: None

Adjourn Meeting:  Meeting adjourned by Vice President Honore at 7:59 PM

PCA's Good Time Region, since 1970.
