Call to Order

May 2021 Board Meeting Minutes (distributed via email) are 1st order of business.  

Board suspended reading of May BOD meeting minutes, no discussion, vote called by Pres and approved unanimously.

Approval of the April BOD Meeting minutes: Vote called by Pres and voted approved unanimously by all present.

Board Member Reports:

President – Peter Ridgway, including Sponsorship (no longer Advertising)

Update for Tech:  We had a very nice Zone 7 Concours training at Stevens Creek Porsche May 23.  Coming attractions:  Swap Meet June 6 at Custom Alignment and Modderman’s.  , Tech and Tacos! 

Vice President – Kris Vanacore

GTG:  July 3, Saturday – Highley / Bennett – 4th of July GTG

Kris asked to add the event to website and social media.  She also provided an announcement flyer for Board meeting. 

Potential GTG 9/18 New Member Gregg Lynn – Will go to Highley’s to see how its done.  Parking is tight, no more than 20 guests.  

50+1 Anniversary Gala – June 19, Saturday – Busy time getting ready for 50+1.  The cutoff for reservations is June 12 and I currently have 93 guests. Kris sent out an email to all with an update to covid restrictions, will update and send again after June 15th when the state makes their stand on masks. 

In the next 2 weeks Kris will be confirming numbers with the venue, the hotel and the shuttle.  Since the  Iles can’t attend, Kris ordered a full sized cardboard cut-out of the two of them to have at Cinnabar (Em’s idea).  Emilie and Kris are also working on having Iles attend live via video.  Kris reached out to John Reed to fill in for Ken during the “stories from our founders” segment of the evening. At this time only John, Esper and the Zaccone’s will be there representing our founders. After John and Kris connect,  Kris will confirm the agenda with Collin Fat who will be presenting the PCA 50th Anniversary Certificate to LPR.

Member Appreciation Picnic, July 17th, Saturday – @ Roaring Camp.  RSVPs are 1 so far, expect there will be more.  Custom Alignment sponsor excited to be there.  

Awards Event December 4, Saturday – Inn at Pasatiempo, similar to 2019 event.  $40 per person, beef / fish / veggie plated dinner, band, prizes.

Kris will provide a flyer for the Awards event for June Board meeting. 

Recruiting for VP – Seeking new VP after completing 50+1.

2021 Events

An all-Porsche Swap Meet is scheduled for June 6th at Custom Alignment and Modderman’s.   You don’t get more tech than trying to figure out what all the parts scattered on the ground are or what Porsche model they come from!  While no food or beverages will be officially offered due to Mt. View restrictions. We are trying to “invite” a few food trucks to the neighborhood.

Chairperson Reports:

Autocross – Anne Roth & Dave Dunwoodie  Next AX is June 27th at the Cow Palace as part of a Zone 7 doubleheader with GGR on the 26th.  Out July date is moved to July 11th.  Any possible August date is undetermined right now.   

There will be an AX Course Design & Safety School on June 26th for PCA members.  Last meeting we approved paying for LPR members.  

Proposal:  Fund July 11th autocross for $5,400 or less for Cow Palace, and $601.75 for porta potties.  Moved:  XXX Seconded: XXX Ayes: Unanimous Noes: None

Charity – Kathy Musser, Kris Vanacore, Emilie Highley

  1. The “PPP” Party (“Porsche Patio Pizza” Party) auction item was a hit, winning bid to Bill Gerber.  Waiting on Bill to contact us to set the date.  LPR approved $500 for this item.
  2. Jacob’s Heart – on track for tour and lunch, October 23.

Emilie Highley – Hospitality

John Reed – John had foot surgery and is recuperating quite well.  Sent some cheery flowers, and John sent a thank you to LPR.  Hopefully he will get that foot “pedal to the metal” soon!

Ken Iles – After spending 2 weeks in Stanford Hospital, Ken is at The Terraces of Los Altos (until about 6/24) and is receiving care for a liver infection.  He will have subsequent treatment for a tumor.  Ken thanks everyone for the beautiful bouquet, balloons and all the wonderful calls, emails, and cards.  Ken has his cell if anyone would like to call, or, please visit if you are in the area.

Safety & Tour– John Reed

Safety – The Observer’s and Event Reports for the May Autocross were sent to PCA in a timely manner.  There were no incidents to report.  The LPR Activities Director received these as well.  Thank you Ed Tefankjian and Dave Dunwoodie. 

Tour – A pre-run of the September 25 – 26 Tahoe Tour is planned this month.  The publicity and sign-ups will begin in July.  Hugh and Nancy Calvin are the chairs.  More on this tour next month.  Any tour ideas or help planning an event, please contact LPR’s Tour Chair John Reed.

Tech and Tacos!    June 26th.     We have our first tech session of the year scheduled and it will be a great one!  Wardell Auto Upholstery is hosting, and they expect their new expansion to be complete by then.   This session will also be sponsored by Emilie Highley who will be catering a Taco Truck for a post session lunch.   Details to follow in June.

General website maintenance this month.  Set up 1st dual meeting – Mountain Mike’s and Zoom – for June 1, this is somewhat of a test situation.

Dana Drysdale – Meeting with Derek Tam, owner, Hapa’s Brewery (San Jose and Los Gatos) as potential site for events.  Will explain some events and see if either site is a fit for an event like that.
