With the 2022 Picnic a distant memory, I’m digging into the 2022 Awards Event. The Inn at Pasatiempo has promised a quote for this years buffet and once I have that I will request a budget for this years event. It will once again be a casual shindig with the emphasis on silly, crazy, Porsche related HATS! Should make for some interesting photos.

Jim Turk has organized a Thirsty Thursday for September at Beer30. That’s the only GTG slated at this time.

Secretary – Dana Drysdale

Thank you for your reports in advance of the meeting!

Member-at-Large – John Gould

Nothing further to report at this time.  Nominating Committee will be to Board in September.

Chairperson Reports:

Autocross – Dave Dunwoodie

August 21 may be last date at Cow Palace.  September 10 may be Atwater, 20 minutes further than Crow’s, restaurants and hotels are there – 2 day event.  Back to Crows, and then possibly an event at a smaller venue – Laguna Seca paddock.

Proposal:  Fund 1) $3,000 for September for Atwater, plus $500 for Porta Potties    Moved: Peter Ridgway     Second:  John Gould     Ayes: 5     Noes:  None   Motion passes

Charity and Hospitality – Kathy Musser, Kris Vanacore, Emilie Highley

Charity – Jacob’s Heart Tour. . . The Committee. . . (OK, really Kathy) has been very busy with organizing the Jacob’s Heart Tour on September 24th.   The flyer has been sent to Jim, Dave and Bob for the tour details.    Lunch details have been coordinated with Caroline Eiskamp –  all ingredients for ‘make your own pizza’ will be provided.   Of course, John Eiskamp will be the ‘master’ of baking those pizzas in their outdoor pizza oven (everyone is in for a real treat!).    The Club will provide the snacks and simple desserts, as well as bringing the beverages left over from the picnic (the Club may need to provide some additional beverages).

The Charity Committee is now collecting items for the Silent Auction (including the need for baskets). . .   We promise to have some great items to auction off!

Remember. . . All proceeds from the Silent Auction will benefit Jacob’s Heart!

NOTE. . . There is a limit of 30 members for the tour, so contact Kathy at (831) 234-6371/momcat1951@yahoo.com and sign up before the deadline of September 9th!

LPR Subsidy and Kill-a-Kone. . .Kris has submitted to PCA the Subsidy Program Request and a flyer for this year’s Kill-A-Kone for Morgan Autism Center.

The Charity/Public Service request is for $750.00.    The request was made on 7/18/2022 to Collin Fat.    The “Kill-A-Cone for Autism” 2022 Auto-Cross Fundraiser is set for Sunday, October 16th – watch for more details!    This is a great opportunity to contribute to the Morgan Autism Center!    Kris will keep us all posted on the Subsidy Program request.

Hospitality – Hospitality is happy to report that all is well. . . Let’s keep the momentum going!

Prieta Post Editor – Don Chaisson

Don led the group through a discussion of what the Post could be – Post has had several forms over the years, magazine, newsletter, blog, paper, and constant contact newsletter.  Today, the newsletter is a clickable item within the website.

Don does not believe we should go to paper again.  How do we reinvent, how do we get started?  Don suggests a member survey to determine what to do.  Don will study this result and discuss with us.   Possibilities – could be a newsletter, could be a digital magazine.  Out to members, hits in basket, etc. Idea is to have lots of photos, lots of images and things to do.

Don will send out the survey to others.  He believes a key finding will be how to find out about upcoming events.  The newsletter may be a good way to do that, POST is to complement that.  Peter will discuss how to include sponsors.  Other discussion of some regions using Constant Contact and getting good opening results.  Probably about 2 – 3 months to get going.  Photo contest may be an idea to generate interest. Also human interest stories.  One last idea – can’t be a LPR Panorama, we don’t have the resources for that.  President Peter remarked that this is a very good thing and asked that the Secretary record the discussion in the minutes.

Public Relations – Open

We are looking for someone to take this position – basics are sending photos, possibly an article into Panorama.  John is happy to continue taking pictures, but anyone should feel free to take photos.

Safety & Tour– John Reed

Safety – Everyone was safe during the month of July!

Tour – The Jacob’s Heart Tour on 9/24 is accepting sign ups. The publicity was sent out via the LPR first of the month blast. The Oktoberfest Tour and lunch has been rescheduled for 10/2. Kris Vanacore will report on this. The Yankee Hill Cooking School Tour is scheduled for 10/8. A flyer with all of the details will be available soon and sent to the LPR Webmaster and Social Media Chair.

Social Media – Dana Ambrisko

  • August Blast Update sent the 1st
  • Mid-month Blast will be sent around 15th

Tech – Peter Ridgway

Nothing further to report this month.

Webmaster – Jim Turk

Don will be splitting this work with Jim next year – looking at ways Don can help, and possibly help with Prieta Post.  Nothing additional to report for this meeting.  Continuing to work on site maintenance.

Old Business:  None

New Business: Pres. Peter: Julio Ortiz, one of our newer members, has secured a source for new Car Badges.  I’ve attached a photo/art work.   The badge prices are $25 or $21 each but we have to order a minimum quantity.  For 25 badges,  they’re $25 each.  Interestingly,  for 30 badges, they’re only $21 each.  Totals are $625 for 25 or $630 for 30.  That seems like an easy choice.  We can order and sell them at cost or add a few bucks for the treasury.  The old car badges went for $32 each as I recall.  Recommended selling the new car badges for $30.

Proposal:  Acquire 30 badges for resale for $630  Moved: Peter Ridgway     Second:  John Gould     Ayes: 5     Noes:  None   Motion passes

Adjourn Meeting:  Meeting adjourned by President Peter at 7:55 PM
