When the alarm went off at 6am on Sunday August 14 I said to myself “Why are we going to Cars and Coffee?.” I was really glad we did.

There were already a number of cars parked in Edna Vilozny’s, Farmers Insurance parking lot when we arrived close to 8am.. Edna and her husband, Julio Ortiz were the hosts of the venue.

Jim Turk, our organizer, had parked his Boxster at the entrance to the Farmers Insurance parking lot, to help attendees find the space. By 9am there were 21 cars in attendance.

The club provided the coffee and muffins while Julio provided the donuts. What a variety of Porsches to walk amongst! Everything from 356s to newer models like the Musser’s 911 (Rosie). Dana Drysdale noticed that there was a 356 parked at the bakery/coffee shop across the street from our location. He went over and invited the owner over to where we were. Dana did that again when he spotted a bright yellow 911 at the bakery.

There were folks who’d been members of LPR for years, folks new to the Porsche community and folks who were interested in buying a Porsche someday. Kathy Musser made sure to interact with potential new LPR members.

Peter Ridgway brought a bunch of new member badges and was able to hand off a few.

All said and done, it was a stellar Cars and Coffee. LPR hasn’t done one of these for a number of years. I hope the success of this event will be duplicated moving forward.
