Hosts: John and Angie Reed, Hugh and Nancy Calvin

On the cloudy morning of March 27, 2022, a group of twenty-one Porsches, with their people and pups, gathered in the Bernal Plaza shopping center. Our hosts, John and Angie and Hugh and Nancy, were busy greeting everyone and making sure we felt welcome while having us sign the liability waiver. We had some time to socialize before the driver’s meeting and it was great to see new faces and reconnect with familiar ones. This was the first time many had seen each other in person since COVID!
John led the driver meeting and highlighted any tricky turn-offs while reviewing the detailed route directions that included mileage and notes, so we would all know where we were supposed to go.
We split up the fifteen cars into two groups to help with traffic management. Group A left right on time at 9:30 a.m. and group B left shortly after. The route was beautiful and full of spring greenery and the sun decided to come out. Some cyclists were also out but we weren’t held up by any traffic. We arrived at the 17-mile drive earlier than we anticipated. John arranged for our group to get free passes into the drive and we headed on past elegant homes to Roy’s at Pebble Beach.
At Roy’s, they were very accommodating and seated us early. They had reserved most of the dining room for us and we had a great view of the ocean. We occupied many round tables and that was good for socializing and getting to know each other. Roy’s also prepared a special lunch menu for our group and everything was delicious.
The tour was over after lunch and some stayed and enjoyed the sun while others headed home.
Overall, a very relaxing and fun tour thanks to Angie, John, Nancy and Hugh!
