Thank you for your reports in advance of the meeting!
Attached are Treasurer’s reports for the month of September. It was a busy month with a number of events and a lot of payments and deposits. Notably, we received a deposit from Zone 7 per our new role as Zone 7 Concours banker, which was a bit of a surprise as we were under the impression that wouldn’t occur until after year end. Per prior discussion I repurposed our so-called e-checking account to the Zone 7 role and transferred the existing balance from that account to our LPR checking account. The Zone 7 funds were then deposited into the re-purposed checking account. I also created new categories for Zone 7 income & expenses, so that we can track those independently from our normal LPR transactions. If we think it would be better to have completely separate reports for LPR & Zone 7, I’m open to that, but in this report, they are both included on a single report.
Dave mentioned that we owe the administrators of the Crowe’s Landing Facility $7,980 for site rental fees for our March, Sept, Oct, and upcoming Nov autocross events. We have already approved budgets for these events which include these fees, but Stanislaus County, who administers the facility access has never sent us a bill. I will prepare the checks today with a brief note of explanation to mail out to the county.
I just want to mention this because, while already approved, it is a large sum of money and when the expenditures show up on next month’s report it won’t be a surprise to anyone.

New National bylaws & Policies and Procedures
Preliminary feedback from PCA National require some changes to address concerns about conflict of interest with nomination of elected positions and ballot tallying. Working on summary to present to BOD for feedback.
Dealing with Crows Landing (Stanislaus County) has been “different”. Ed Hunter has been our contact for the two clubs and we coordinate to send in COI together the week before the events (without being asked). Last year we were sending our payments in together after every couple of events (they don’t send us invoices) and I’ve told Ed to let me know when they are making payments. This week I was talking to the GGR treasurer and learned he has been sending in payments the week before our Crows Landing dates (March, August, & September) and will be mailing payment tomorrow for this weekend’s October events. Now we are playing catch-up and paying for 4 dates this week ($7,980). These payments have all been approved by the board in my monthly budget requests.
This weekend in our annual Kill-a-Kone charity event. So far, I have 69 drivers registered, and 47 RSVP’ed for dinner. I’m guessing $40/person for dinner/tax/tip. We have $750 coming from PCA national, and I have $500 additional approved last month. I’d like to ask for board approval for an additional $1250 to cover the dinner. The $500 + $1250 would be covered with the registration fees from this event. After paying the Zone fees, this will be a “break-even” event.
Proposal: Kathy proposes we approve an additional amount up to $1,250 for the dinner. Second: Honore Ayes: 6 Noes: None Motion passes
Jacob’s Heart – To date, $5100.00 has been collected – best ever! Jacob’s Heart will be sending the online donation total which will be added to the $5100.00. Update of donations will be communicated at a later date.
Kill-A-Kone – Everything is locked and loaded for this year’s Kill-A-Kone. Annual Kill-A-Kone Charity Event on October 12th at Crows Landing. Note: This event is in support of Morgan Autism.
John Reed – With John’s passing on September 22nd, our Club presented Angie with a certificate for a star registered in John’s name. Angie was truly touched. On a side note, Laura Sharp, Angie’s daughter had baseball size cards made up “Celebrating His Spirit – Big John“. If anyone would like one, please contact Emilie Highley.
June Iles – Many of us continue to visit June. She is doing well, health is good, despite her memory loss, she remains social, smiles a lot and loves seeing visitors!
This issue was an important one for the region as it highlighted John Reed’s legacy.
The issue was redone in the closing week of August and first couple weeks of Sept to get the JR story front and center.
Thanks to everyone who chipped in to pull this issue together. Thanks to Doris for her incredible patience with me and her professionalism and drive to put out a great product.
The reader statistics were strong with 209 readers, or over half of the registered members opening the publication and spending time reading it. Several re-visited the issue as we had 232 Total Views.
Needless to say, readers spent the most time on the article “In Memoriam: John Reed. 1942-2024”.
I think folks had some anticipation for the issue as the readership spiked on Sept 19-20-21 more sharply than previous issue publication statistics.
I can’t explain why readers spend so much time on “In the Zone” this issue. Curious.
I had a fun time with the annual WERKS articles… always fun to find new stories for this National level premier event.
The next issue Nov/Dec is in work with the lead 4 articles: with emphasis on tour reports.
LPR/MBR Octoberfest Tour
Jacobs Heart/Canepa Tour, story by Doris Britshgi
Porsche Sprint Challenge and Enduro at Sonoma, — the event offered some interesting story lines about young and old drivers in a national series. Spoiler alert, I played the “LPR Editor” card to get into the event through USAC. What the heck, it worked and the pass was FREE.
LPR Concours — really a story admitting that LPR members are not very into Wax/Polish/Repeat, preferring turning, Autocross
We will be using a lot of photos contributed by several of you all.
Speaking of Autocross, we will try for a year-end review of the LPR Autocross season in the Jan/Dec 2025 Issue— Dave, please help! We’ll also do a summary of the Annual Year Ends Party.
Dana sent an email to Linda at Panorama with a picture of John and Angie and a couple of sentences.
Dana is happy to handle Public Relations in the interim.
Dave reported that Ed Tefankjian submitted the safety report for the Sept. 15 Autocross.
Dana Drysdale will contact Ed to see whether he will chair this position in the interim.
