Dear

Pam
Ryder & Laurie Delimon
Prieta Post
Co-Editors |
LPR
Tour Season is in full swing and our calendar is
full of great one-day and overnight tours that
will keep us busy right through our beautiful
Indian Summer. If you've never attended an LPR
tour, check out the event calendar and sign up for
one. You are definitely in for a treat. LPR has
the reputation for putting on some of the best
tours in the area. One reason is that our hard
working tour volunteers have organized so many
tours they have moved into the pro category. This
year the Reeds, Bennetts, Vanacores, Sewards,
Orlandos, Les Schreiber, Mike Zampiceni, and
Justin Gross are doing an amazing job of creating
tours to interesting places on the best of the Bay
Area's back roads.
This
is the year that Doug and I (Pam) are learning
first hand what it takes to put on a tour that
people will enjoy, remember, and ask for year
after year. We are joining forces with tour
leaders extraordinaire Don and Leslie Orlando to
put on the Bass Lake III Tour. I think we've been
on a dozen tours and my "job" has always been
passenger seat photographer so I'm looking forward
to expanding my horizons. In February we got a
taste of tour organization when we led a group on
Larry Sharp's Death Valley Tour. I thought all was
going well until I set the CB radio into the cup
holder which engaged the talk button. Our group
was treated to our car conversation for a good 10
minutes until someone mercifully called me on my
cell phone to let me know. Later, on the same trip
(so I'm not a fast learner), it happened again,
but unfortunately we had no cell phone service so
our group of 10 cars once again had to listen to
me prattle on about the scenery etc. for at least
30 minutes. A rookie mistake that, I'm told, has
embarrassed a few others over the years.
I'm
looking forward to taking a "test run" of the Bass
Lake Tour soon. I imagine that it will involve
excel spreadsheets, locating the best rest and
snack stops along the way and fully checking out
the hotel and restaurant! And just to be safe, I
going to find a safe place to put the CB!

Cinco
de Mayo turned out to be an interesting and productive
day. On short notice I had to cancel participation in
Peter's Zoo tour and attend our first Zone Presidents'
meeting of 2012 run by our Zone Representative Sharon
Neidel.
Speaking
of Sharon, this is her last year as our Zone Rep. Anyone
interested in finding out more about this very important
position or is ready to throw their hat in the ring,
please contact me or Sharon
directly.
This
meeting was not exclusive for the Presidents of the ten
regions within our Zone. Many, like LPR, were
represented by other officers, chairs or those who
fulfill a Zone function. LPR was well represented and
joining me at the meeting were our Post Co-Editor, Pam
Ryder and Les Schreiber, Past President and currently on
Sharon's staff with responsibility for the Zone 7
Concours activities.
I
won't try to keep you entertained with the six hours of
material we covered, but rather in bullet form, give you
just the highlights.
- Betty Jo Turner is retiring as Editor-in-Chief of
Panorama.
- Panorama will launch their electronic version of
Panorama in June of this year. PCA will continue to
offer the Panorama in a printed version as well.
- Insurance is the PCA's biggest expense every
year.
- There is on-going discussion that may lead to
allowing 16 year-olds to Autocross. This is being
pitched as a way to get young people interested in
"cars" and ultimately become bona fide members when
they come of age.
- For the technically inclined, there is an
outstanding event called Tech Tactics.
Tech Tactics has become a PCA National
event and will be housed in the PCNA (Porsche Cars
North America) Training Facilities in Ontario,
California where they train Porsche technicians.
Chairing this event is Peter Smith, who
many of us know from his long association with the PCA
in the Bay Area, while holding a number of high-level
technical positions in several of our local
dealerships. This is a "must go to" event for Gear
Heads. It's held December 1st and 2nd, so mark your
calendars.
Other
major topics of discussion were the up-coming national
event highlight of the year - Parade, which will be held
in Salt Lake City, UT this July. Social media, the
buzzword of the decade, was talked about with more and
more regions trying to figure out how to capitalize on
the multitude of opportunities electronic media
presents. We also explored the PCA Regional Procedures
Manual (RPM), which is distributed, to Region
Presidents. It's the "Bible" we are all requested to use
as a procedural guideline. I have found it to be
invaluable for a variety of situations, such as when
trying to determine the proper course of action to take
or look up the history of some type of tradition. A new
edition is prepared every year, so it is never out of
date.
In
summary, a day well spent. It seems all regions are
challenged in similar ways and appear to be very open to
sharing information and lessons learned. It is a great
group of volunteers dedicated to enhancing the Porsche
enthusiasts experience through activities, events,
technical forums and the camaraderie that's inherent to
these clubs.

-- It's Not Too Late to Join The
Fun! |
The 57th annual Porsche Parade will
be held July 8-14, 2012 in Salt Lake City, Utah, and
there is still time to join us. Parade registration may
be accessed by logging into your pca.org account and following the
links.Salt
Lake, known as the "Crossroads of the West," is a fun,
family friendly city with theatre, restaurants,
nightclubs, museums, and more. The weather should be
hot, but dry and sunny. In other words-summer
time!In
addition to all the fun you can have in the city and
surrounding areas, we of course have a full week of
Parade activities lined up for you. There is still room
to join in any or all of the four competitive events:
Concours, Autocross, TSD Rally and Tech Quiz. We have
beer and wine tasting events in Hospitality, our Art
show, a 5k Run/Walk, Golf Tournament, Gimmick Rally,
Banquets, RC Car Races and the Michelin Drive &
Compare. Tech Academy will be held on Friday, with
plenty of hands-on instruction about do-it-yourself
maintenance. The local region, Intermountain, will round
out the week with a DE at nearby Miller Motorsports
Park. Our
headquarters hotels will be the Little America and Grand
America Hotels. Located in the middle of downtown, the
hotels are on a light rail line, making it easy to get
around the city. Little America has Salt Lake
City's largest indoor/outdoor pool, and both have
extensive underground parking areas. Within easy walking
distance is Salt Lake City's newest mall (It just opened
this March)-City Creek Center. Spread across three
blocks in downtown Salt Lake City, City Creek Center has
eighty stores and restaurants either open-air or covered
by a retractable roof.About
a mile from the hotel is Utah's state Capitol, where we
will hold the Concours. The Capitol was built on a hill
overlooking the city, and is the perfect place for you
to show off your "baby". The Autocross and the
Michelin Drive and Compare will be held at Maverick
Center, a 10 minute drive away.The
week promises to be an exciting one. Come celebrate 57
years of club history, and your chance to experience all
that Salt Lake City and Utah have to
offer.

| Well,what
can I say, except that LPR's AX #2 on Sunday, April 29,
was the complete opposite of AX #1! Mother Nature and
the Porsche Gods smiled on LPR and gave us a beautiful,
mild, sunny day in Marina.
Sunday was day 2 of a 2-day Zone 7 event with
our neighboring region, GGR. I must thank the boys of
GGR for the use of their timing trailer and equipment,
affectionately nicknamed the 'bachelor pad'.
Having run the course Saturday in the
counter-clockwise direction, on Sunday, it was run in
the clockwise direction. LPR's 2012 AX Team made a few
minor course adjustments in record time and we were off
to what was to be a fantastic day.
It was great seeing old friends from all of
the other regions that make up Zone 7, making new
friends, and welcoming those that are not only new to
LPR, but new to PCA and Zone 7.
74 competitors ran a total of 10 'runs'
each. I cannot thank the team enough for their
excellent effort --a lot of cars, a lot of runs, it
takes a village, folks!
Of course, there are always great stories
that come out of any autocross and this event was no
exception. You'll find two great ones in this
issue!
If you have never been to an LPR autocross,
please come on down. We would love to see you.
Spectators are always welcome and you can hitch a ride
with an instructor-for a small fee, of course.
See
ya in Marina on June 16!

The
Rallye That Never
Was |
Contributed by Peter
Ridgeway
The Zoo Rallye fizzled down to three cars.
However, in true LPR spirit, we
improvised by dropping all rallye elements and turning
the day into a mini tour. John & Angie Reed and
Johnny & Kathy Musser followed Jacqueline and me
along some beautiful Porsche roads as we made our way
north toward Oakland.
Nothing serious. A few deer and turkeys plus
one adventuresome peacock strolling down the road.
Dropping the rallye elements and having only three cars
had a negative impact on my timing so we slowed down and
took our time. Funny thing about that. Jacqueline had a
really great time and loved the roads because she wasn't
hanging on for dear life as I whipped around curves like
we do on most tours.
I've heard that while us drivers are
delighted to be exercising our fine machines, our
navigators are not always thrilled. Well after this
ride, I'm convinced that every once in awhile we should
have a Go Slow Rallye/Tour with the focus on making our
passengers happy. You know, sippin' wine because it's
good, not because you need it!
But I digress. Back to the mini tour. The one
regret was that I didn't schedule a few viewing
opportunity stops. The view from the East Bay mountain
tops is spectacular. The viewing was quickly forgotten
as we pulled in for lunch. BTW, if you're ever in the
beautiful part of Oakland (yes there is such a place!),
it's worth going out of your way for Red Boy Pizza.
After a great lunch, the intrepid rallye team
polished off the day with a visit to the Oakland Zoo.
Once inside, we got to spend some time with Bigg John's
distant cousins in the Simian section, watched as the Sun Bear
showed us how to relax and generally had a good time
watching the animals do their thing. My highlights: the
big male baboon's flaming red butt reflecting in the
afternoon sun, the elephants big show and the baby
giraffe's antics.
We had so much fun and so many missed it that
I'm considering a repeat in the future with the Zoo
being optional and lunch at Red Boy's mandatory.
If you're interested, check out Johnny's
photos on Flicker.
They really show the fun of the day's
event.

AXers Come Through for
Cones for
Charity |
Contributed
by Pam Ryder
It's pretty much AX standard operating
procedure that when you knock over a cone you get a
one-second penalty. But LPR AX Co-Chairs Anne Roth and
Larry Sharp added a new twist at LPR's day of the Zone 7
Autocross last month. Drivers hitting a cone were asked
to toss $1 into the "Cones for Charity" fund. But
somehow during the day $5, $10 and even $20 bills came
our way, even after perfect runs.
At the end of the day, the Cones for Charity
fund totaled $300, and unsuspecting AXer Brad Boardman
was asked to come forward to hear that the money was
being to donated to The Morgan Autism Center in San Jose
where Brad serves as Director of Education Services.
The following week LPR President Doug Ryder,
Anne Roth and I visited the Morgan Autism Center to
present the check to Brad and Executive Director
Jennifer Sullivan.
But first, Brad gave us a tour of the school
where we met so many of the students, both young and
old. The center's mission is to "help children and
adults with autism and other developmental disabilities
maximize their potential in a dignified, positive and
loving environment." Everyone was anxious to talk to
Brad and his compassion, patience and love of his work
was evident.
We all enjoyed meeting Chuck who came to the
Morgan Autism at the age of 8 in 1971, and is still
there today as an integral part of their adult program.
You can read his moving story here. It
was a heart warming and inspiring visit that, I believe,
will stay with us for a long time.
Watch for Cones for Charity at the next Zone
7 Autocross in Marina. And while you probably won't want
to actually hit more cones, knock off a few imaginary
ones. You'll be glad you did.

Annual LPR Mother's Day Tour and
Brunch
|
Contributed
by Virginia Jansen
After fortifying ourselves with Swedish
pancakes and coffee, a small but lively band of Porsches
set off from Almaden, after women LPR'ers received a
beautiful rose each from our thoughtful leader, Les
Schreiber. The group included not only Les but also
Laurie and Kurt Delimon, Kathy and Gary Goelkel,
Virginia and George Jansen as well as Angie and John
Reed.
It was a perfect day, not too hot; we crested
Mt. Madonna in the fog belt before we descended to the
valley breezes. Even all CB's were working (more or
less). There weren't too many bicyclists, perhaps
because of Mother's Day, and many of those seeing our
group coming, gave us a friendly wave.
At the Corralitos Meat and Sausage Market, we
stuffed several cheesy Bavarians into our cars, then
continued on more winding back-roads among the trees
till we arrived at Bargetto Winery, where -- wonder of
wonders! -- we found plenty of parking. Since we were
slightly early, we hit the tasting room, where Les's
wine club membership enabled us to taste for free.
Thanks, Les.
The adjacent store was full of wine-related
goodies, such as tile coasters with grape-loving
depictions from the world of art and wine-filled
chocolates. Our reserved table, big enough to
accommodate our merry group all together, was adjacent
to the creek and closest to the buffet table and bar.
How well planned!
After a lengthy lunch, good cheer, and
minnehahas (I mean, many ha-ha's -- oh, the wine and
mimosas were good . . .), we avoided 17 by taking a
lively prance up Soquel-Old San Jose Road to the summit.
All too soon we were back in Silicon Valley but with a
delightful morning and afternoon under our bulging
belts, courtesy of Les's good planning with some help
from the Reeds.

The
REALLY Cheesy Rallye/Tour |
Mark your calendars for June
30th
Tour
Fee: $ 5.00
Tasting
fee: probably $10 (still
negotiating!)
Starting location: Marin county, just
over the Golden Gate
OK folks. Here's the deal. On Saturday
June 30th, we'll be exploring Marin & Sonoma's
finest products: Cheese! At least that's my opinion. And
I love their wine. The more I worked on setting
this Rallye/Tour up, the more I started craving cheese.
Did you know there are 8
different types of cheese? Or
that cheese can be made from just about any animal you
can milk? That being said, we will limit our tasting to
Cow, Sheep and Goat cheeses while we visit the finest
examples of artisans on their farmsteads.
We'll start just over the Golden Gate
in Marin at 9 AM and travel back roads up the east side
of Tomales Bay, making selected stops including lunch.
I've been in contact with a number of "appointment only"
farmsteads. Our tour destinations will be selected after
we taste test at each one and pick the winners. I pretty
much HAD to pick one already. The owner is a BIG Porsche
fan and looking forward to an invasion of
cars!

me at: peter_ridgway@sbcglobal.net
Or call: 408-255-6637
Additional details will be posted in the LPR
calendar by mid-month.

Tour to Rocky
Point
|
Contributed
by Johnny & Kathy Musser
I have finally found a drawback to living in
Santa Cruz. To make the drivers meeting in Los Gatos at
8:00 AM we had to get up at 5:30 AM. That is very early,
now that I live in the "Land of no Mondays", also known
as retirement. Knowing I needed to save my strength for
the arduous tour driving, I was a generous husband and
let Kathy drive the Porsche to the meeting point, while
I rested my eyes.
Kevin and Dede Seward had a brief drivers
meeting and we were on our way. It was a beautiful
spring day as 14 beautiful Porsches left the Kings Court
Shopping Center. We drove south on the back roads of
Santa Clara County. We drove past Guadalupe Reservoir,
Almaden Reservoir and Uvas Reservoir on roads that wound
through the foothills of the Santa Cruz Mountains. There
were wild flowers in bloom, Poppies and Blue Bonnets,
and we even saw wild turkeys and a Pheasant. It was
great to enjoy the warm sun and fresh air while
listening to the roar of our Porsches as we went up and
down the hills and around the many corners that make
these roads such fun.
Soon we turned onto Hecker Pass Highway to
cross over into Santa Cruz County. Due to traffic, we
had to drive slowly, but this provided us with more time
to enjoy the canyon filled with redwoods, ferns and more
wild flowers. It had been foggy around Monterey Bay when
we left home, so I was worried that the last half of the
tour would be cold and damp. I didn't need to worry; as
we crossed over the pass it was bright and sunny on the
bay below.
The tour traveled through the hills
south of Watsonville and down to the Elkhorn Slough
nature sanctuary. We made a brief stop at the Sanctuary
visitor's center. We had just enough time to stretch our
legs and take a quick look at the exhibits. I found out
that there used to be Grizzly Bears roaming the area. I
found a beautiful 6 foot tall stained glass grizzly and
was glad that was the only one I met.
It was getting close to lunch time so we were
quickly back on the road and headed south on Hwy 1. The
road between Castroville and Monterey is freeway so we
quickly got to Carmel. The road south of Carmel returns
to two lanes and is built on the side of the cliffs
above the Pacific. This is certainly one of the most
breathtaking roads in the US, with mountains rising up
on one side of the road and cliffs dropping to the
Pacific on the other. It can be difficult to take your
eyes from the scenery, but in a Porsche it is a fun road
to drive. All too soon we were turning onto the road to
the parking lot and our lunch stop at Rocky Point
Restaurant
The restaurant is located on a small piece of
flat land hanging above the Pacific Ocean. The view from
your table is looking south toward Big Sur. You see
miles of cliffs rising up out of the crashing breakers
with a thin line of road and bridges trying to hang on
and not fall into the water. If you can pull your eyes
away from the view and read the menu you find that there
is a selection of great sandwiches and burgers as well
as seafood and Mexican dishes. The food and views were
great and the company was even better. All too soon
lunch was over and it was time to head for home. It is
safe to say that the Seward's tour was a huge success
and would be hard to beat.

Curious to
know more about your fellow LPR members? Haven't
heard a good car story in awhile? Maybe
you need a new cool driving road or are
just curious to
know who's driving what. We'll answer
these questions and more each month as we feature a
different member of LPR. Remember, it's not
just the cars, but the people too.
There
aren't many of us fortunate enough to enjoy a Porsche
legacy with their parents. My parents drove Pontiacs
sedans and bought Chevy pickups - in my dad's opinion,
Ford's sucked. I know, I know, your dad liked Fords and
Chevys... However, there are a few of us who's fathers
looked beyond our shores and embraced that great little
sports car made in Germany.
In
this edition of Porsche Personen our Featured Member is
just such a person. And now, owning/driving his dad's
911 allows him a physical connection and possibly, a
physic connection too...Scott's knack for antidotes, not
to mention his ties to law enforcement, make for an
interesting read - enjoy!
And,
don't forget to honk.

Boxster, black with optional black hardtop, black

The
car is essentially stock with sport wheels. I bought it
in 2004 from a friend who had only put 12,000 miles on
it. I test drove it on a dreary day and all the way up
Highway 17 he kept fretting and saying, "my car's never
been in the rain before....as it started
raining and we headed back down the hill, he continued
fretting until I said, "Dan, I'm buying it, it's not
your car anymore!"

911 Targa 2.7 white with silver roll bar. License CV
SIX. This was Dad's favorite, bought new
from Ely Porsche after dad and mom went to
look for a 356. Mom said, "Robert, why are
you going to buy another used car?" Dad pointed at the
911 on the lot and asked the salesman, " how much is
that one?" The license plate refers to the CV 6
identifier of the USS Enterprise on which dad served
from 1940 to 1944. Dad passed away in 2005 and my sister
and I are enjoying restoring the car and sharing the fun
driving it remembering him. It's as solid today as it
was in 1974.

since 2004, although dad has been a Golden Gate division
member since 1974. I enjoy fly fishing. I do it once or
twice a year but get to anticipate it all year and then
enjoy having done it the result of the year. Christina
and I enjoy Napa Valley and Carmel to taste wine and
tour around. We've been married 30 years and have two
kids (adults), 29 and 27.
I
work as the police chief in Los Gatos. I served in the
San Jose police department for 27 years starting in
1975. I am currently president of the California Police
Chiefs Association.
Favorite
Driving Roads
Any
Napa Valley road at 35-45 mph with the top down on a
nice day. Highway 9 from Saratoga to Skyline and back
reminds me of my high school driving days and is such an
accessible, fun jaunt to exercise the car modestly.
Given more time, I'd head down Skyline to the road over
to San Gregorio, up to Half Moon Bay, back up to Skyline
and back down to Highway 9.
A
Driving Story
I
was driving the Boxster to Chico to do some expert
witness consulting. Driving out 680 through Sunol, I
reflected on Dad's love of Porsches and how I've
developed that same love. I gave a nod up to him in his
memory as I drove and almost immediately my windows on
the Boxster each started operating down by themselves.
I'd raise them up and they'd start down again an inch or
two at a time. I was convinced that it was Dad messing
with me....the hardtop switch was eventually replaced
but it was more fun to think that Dad was riding with
me.
Favorite Club
Activities
I've
only done the tech sessions so far but have really
enjoyed them. I did dent removal twice and detailing at
Bascom Trim and Upholstery. The car always looks better
when I get home from a tech session!
A
Good Ticket Story
See
"occupation" above. But before I was a police officer, I
got cited at 16 in the family mercury station wagon
racing a man and his family off the light in Los Altos
by CHP. I foolishly asked the CHP officer if he had
jurisdiction...he apparently did.
Did
you want any stories about tickets I've written? I've
got a great one about a guy speeding on the freeway in
his corvette who tried to BS me that he just "landed his
twin engine plane at San Jose" and hadn't readjusted his
sensation of speed yet from flying so fast. I'm a pilot
too and he got a ticket.
If
you're driving through Los Gatos, honk when you see me.
I notice every Porsche.

2012 GGR/LPR Zone Event
#1 |
Contributed
by Mike Koozmin, #10
Marina
California laid host to Porsches-o-plenty in late April
as the Nor-Cal PCA Zone 7 AX event crossed paths with an
annual West Coast Ramble of 914s, which set their sites
on the fair town's dunes, and the lucky Motel 6. Plenty
of vintage and newer Porsche cars to see this weekend
and intense competition lined up as folks were geared up
and ready to start the season off right. The weekend was
both Loma Prieta and Golden Gate region's second event
of the year but seeing how they were cursed with rain
for their first events in March the warm and sunny
weather was welcome and it felt like a proper season
opener.
GGR ran their event on Saturday
with a difficult and technical course well suited for
the experienced driver which provided a challenge to
most in attendance. LPR took the reigns on Sunday
running the course in reverse with a few subtle changes
to slaloms, corner exits and a difficult but manageable
braking zone at the end of the course where hitting a
few cones would cost you in more ways than one. LPR
hosted a voluntary fundraiser so the cones were
strategic but not impossible to avoid. Ones who did
manage to down a few pylons were asked to contribute a
buck-a-pop to Morgan Autism Center fundraiser. We raised
an impressive $300, but those dollars were not all
cones. The generosity of the PCA members ran deep as
they reached into their pocketbooks to give from the
heart and hand on Sunday.
Saturday's
top Porsche time of the day was held by none other than
our very own Larry Sharp driving a slightly modified but
still street legal, Signal Orange 1973 914-6 GT conversion followed closely by Dave
Dunwoodie in his 3.6 liter Maraschino cherry red 1970
911 race car taking second place. At days end Kula Ranch
Island Steakhouse was the watering hole of choice where
the elders gathered to bench race and haze the young
guns. Sunday showed favor to the 911 as the course
opened up a tad and the fierce race cars took to battle
again with Dave Dunwoodie in "The Maraschino" claiming
victory by a few tenths of a second over Randall
Barrick's highly modified and very well driven open
cockpit 914 sporting a high strung 2.4 liter 4 cylinder
powerhouse. The afternoons were traditionally
breezy as skydivers floated down from the heavens and
folks ran for their sweaters. All in all a fantastic
weekend run by a wonderful and dedicated group of
volunteers. Thanks to all who put such great effort into
making this and every event a resounding success. This
letter closes one of many great AX events held at
Marina's airfield, but don't rest on your laurels just
yet as this isn't the only Zone 7 event coming to you
from the dunes. Mark your calendar for September 8th and
9th when LPR and GGR will host a rematch to April's Zone
event.
"Buckle
up, boys and girls, we have some racin' to do. Git yer
rides all gassed up and oiled down and polish em if ya
feel the need but when the flag falls the only place
rust or cobwebs will make all the difference is in yer
skill box. Gloves on or off folks, someones gonna walk
away bruised up but ready for more cuz this knucklefest
is a two day rodeo and lessen ya bring yer best pony to
the ring even the clowns won't save ya. The smell o'
race gas fumes from the starting gate, the sound of
internal combustion with the clickity-clack of vintage
Porsche valve trains and the crisp shout of the course
worker's bark as he drops the starter flag.... "GO"!
Wide-open throttle and pebbles pinging off your
windshield as you see the car in front of you blast onto
the course. The heart races as your hands grip the
steering wheel tight... You're on baby... "GO"!
Vroooooom..."

Looking For An Insurance Program
to Protect Your Car on the
Track?
|
As
any High-Performance Driver's Education enthusiast
knows, finding the coverage you need to protect yourself
during events is almost impossible. Over the past ten
years many auto insurers have changed their policies to
exclude coverage for claims "occurring on a surface used
for racing", "at a high-performance driving event", or
"use of an auto at a
racetrack".
Lockton HPDE
Insurance Program is PCA endorsed and offers physical
damage insurance for vehicles used in high-performance
driving schools and tracks across the United States.
They offer both single-event and annual, multi-pack
policies, so you can pick the type of policy that most
closely fit your needs. An easy online system lets you
get a premium indication instantly and you can even
purchase your insurance policy electronically.
Single-Event
Policies Lockton HPDE Insurance
Program offers a la carte, single-event policies that
protect your automobile while you are participating in
an HPDE event. These single-event policies are a
fantastic solution for enthusiasts who participate in
five events or less per
year.
Multi-Pack
Policies For enthusiasts more active in
the hobby, they offer annual policy options that provide
coverage at a discounted rate for multiple events in a
policy year. Four different policy options allow you to
choose a package that matches your level of activity in
HPDE events.
Note: This insurance
policy provides physical damage coverage for your
automobile while you are participating in a
High-Performance Driver Education event. This physical
damage coverage will begin when you enter the grounds of
a racecourse and end when you leave the racecourse
premises. Liability coverage is not included in this
policy. Participants that have more than one (1) claim
with Lockton HPDE Insurance Program in a 3-year period
are not eligible for this coverage.

1968
Porsche 912 This car was last seen on the
road in the late eighties, when a main bearing failed at
traffic jam speed on a very hot day in San Jose. Upon
examination, the consulting mechanic advised me that it
not be driven anymore - and thus it wasn't. Spent some
time outside at the in-law's rural property (didn't ever
make it into the barn) for a few years where squirrels
and birds shared residential space, then was finally
garaged in Santa Cruz when we bought our first house.
Diminutive tenants evicted ever since. Fast forward to
today. Some body rust here and there, interior needs
complete restoration, but original engine and everything
else provide an advantaged starting point for a possible
restoration, or even a source of hard-to-find parts all
in one place. Battery pan area was repaired - as well as
some of the wheel well area where the struts are
attached - way back in the eighties - when I had a full
head of hair and maybe you did as well. Fuch rims,
original dual carbs - and this 912 was capable of being
started and driven at the time of the advised
retirement. Just think of all the miles not driven on
this car since that fateful day. Saw a similar
restoration candidate 1968 Porsche 912 go for $5,251 on
eBay. I am asking $4,251, which I think is a discounted
price for this vehicle. Will need to be towed to your
storage location or shop upon purchase. I'll have four
tires inflated and ready to roll. Contact Info: adamjosef@aol.com or
