Toyland, Toyland, wonderful girl and boy land…
On the morning of Sunday, December 5th, after being re-directed to a more convenient meeting location, LPR members met with toys to donate. Honore and John D’Angelo, our tour leaders, waited patiently while we loaded up John and Angie Reed’s Macan to the brink! Our Cayenne was already full up with the toys brought to the Awards Event the evening before so we left “Pepper” at home and drove “Smokey” our 2019 Targa GTS. I was so glad we took the spirited car because the roads were delightful. There was very little traffic and bicycles on the road so all 15 cars had a lovely drive on well traveled Porsche type roads.
It wasn’t long before we reached our destination, Highway One brewing. Honore and John, had ordered lots of munchies for the crowd JUST in case our separate food and beverage orders took a while to be delivered. The baskets of fries, fried cauliflower, chicken wings, (and my favorite) deep fried tater tots -NUM NUM arrived just as we found our seats in the back patio area. As it turned out, the kitchen with lightening speed, churned out our lunch orders and made sure that we were quickly satisfied. Peter and Jacquline joined us for lunch and added to the camaraderie.
John and Angie Reed came by our house on the way home to drop off all the toys. Pretty impressive haul! That combined with the toys we’d gotten at the Awards Event were taken to Silicon Valley Moving and Storage where they will be delivered to the Salvation Army for distribution. This is the 2nd year LPR has taken donated toys to Silicon Valley Moving and Storage. BTW, the owners have a Cayenne so we need to get them into the club. Anyway, for several years the Silicon Valley Moving and Storage owners son has made it his personal mission to acquire as many toys as possible for Toys for Tots.
Thank you LPR members for your generous donations. So many children will have a better Christmas because of it! AND, major thanks to Honore and John for putting on the tour. It was great fun!!
