This is my final column as LPR President, at least for this two year go-around.  Normally, most outgoing leaders of any organization would fill their last missive with glowing accolades of the past glorious year. Unfortunately, the past glorious year wasn’t too glorious. The COVID-19 pandemic took care of that. What we did was the best we could under the circumstances; a car club with heavy emphasis on driving and social get togethers was no match for the ongoing pandemic and all it brought to the table.

Being a hardy and resilient PCA region we took this in stride and offered, from March until the present, several successful driving events: Tony & Kris Vanacore’s June tour had 27 cars attend; The first of three autocrosses that began in September and finished in October with a 50 driver limit for each event; Also in October -The Vanacore/Musser Jacob’s Heart Charity Tour at which participants were very generous;  The Hills are Alive Tour, headed up by the Reeds, found 17 cars enjoying a nice day of back road driving. On the horizon is a Toys for Tots and Holiday Lights of Willow Glen drive this month. Check the events section of the December Prieta POST.

The hope is for a more productive 2021. This, of course, depends on the status of the virus and the steps being taken to produce and distribute a vaccine to combat this outbreak. We may still be offering limited events through the middle of the year, but we’ll drive that road and cross that bridge when it happens. Your newly elected board and committee chairs will be closely monitoring this situation and will keep you informed with updates as they occur.

The Thank You Department…

Since the beginning of 2019 through the end of 2020 I’ve had the pleasure and privilege of working with the most dedicated of all LPR members, your board of directors and committee chairs.

These past two years have been rewarding and challenging at the same time, 2019 was a full year of driving and social events, 2020 was a set-back of sorts because of the pandemic, but we still gave it a shot with the events we offered, these were well attended and conducted in a safe manner, of course.

So, a great big thank you to those who served LPR in a leadership capacity, as President I couldn’t have asked for more. These trying times only strengthened our friendships, the dedication involved was above and beyond which is why we are still a thriving and a viable PCA region.  “Who could ask for anything more!”

Finally..

This finally is my last with this final thought about LPR and the people who make up the membership,  it’s paraphrased from a classic Frank Sinatra song –   “Regrets, we’ve had a few, but then, too few to mention, we saw it through without exception and …we did it our way.”

See you on…the road ahead!
